WEST MELBOURNE, Fla., Feb. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- RELM Wireless Corporation (NYSE MKT: RWC) today announced that it has entered into a master agreement with Harris County, Texas (Houston) to provide public safety P25 subscriber radios for operation on the county's TXWARN radio system.

RELM is one of only three companies that received master agreements.  The maximum total value of the master agreements is $1 million for all suppliers; RELM's agreement has a one-year base period that commenced on January 29, 2013, and four one-year option periods for Harris County. The master agreements do not specify or guarantee quantities of equipment to be purchased from any particular supplier.

RELM President and Chief Executive Officer David Storey commented, "RELM initially provided approximately $2 million of P25 subscriber radios to Harris County last year.  We are pleased and excited to enter into this master agreement and extend our relationship with Harris County, and are committed to maintaining the same high level of product quality and customer service established with our initial deliveries last year.  While available funding presently caps product procurements under the master agreements at $1 million for all suppliers, we stand ready to meet the County's additional needs when they arise."
