Smith-Midland Plays an Integral Role in Developing Projects for Three Worldwide Hotel Brands

MIDLAND, VA--(Marketwired - Nov 17, 2015) -  Smith-Midland Corporation (OTCQB: SMID) -- What do the new Hyatt House in Jersey City, N.J., the Holiday Inn Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Oh., and the Embassy Suites in Berkeley Heights, N.J. all have in common? All currently under construction, each of these projects incorporates SlenderWall architectural precast concrete building panels.

Cost effective, durable, and known for its long life span -- with no maintenance or failure issues -- SlenderWall comes in a wide variety of designs and finishes and provides a viable alternative to traditional EFIS construction for hotel chains.

Recognized for its ability to reduce costs and requirements for elements within the production, delivery, and installation processes, SlenderWall is the industry's only wall system that incorporates the proven technologies of architectural precast concrete, high-tech PVA fiber and welded wire reinforcement, stainless steel fasteners, heavy gauge galvanized steel studs, and energy code compliant closed-cell foam insulation.

This design isolates the exterior precast cladding from the structural stresses associated with wind loading, steel frame movement, expansion and contraction, and seismic shock.

"By using SlenderWall and its cost-effective combination of durable architectural precast concrete, stud wall framing, and closed-cell spray foam insulation integral to the panel," said Chris Grogan, Business Development Manager, Smith-Midland, "each project was able to reduce both the on-site trade work required and the overall project schedule."

At the Hyatt House, SlenderWall was selected for its lightweight characteristics and durable exterior, which is easily installed on jobsites with reduced access. For the project, Smith-Midland provided nearly 11,500 square feet of architectural panels colored dark grey, tan, and white to meet the project owner's specifications. Upon completion in 2016, the $90 million project will result in a 13-story Hyatt hotel near the city's waterfront.

For the Holiday Inn Cleveland Clinic, SlenderWall is enabling a "systems-based approach, which minimized other trade work required on site," said Grogan. The project incorporates 286 smooth acid-finished architectural precast panels for a total of nearly 42,000 square feet of SlenderWall. Located on a 1.8-acre site, the $40 million project will include a Holiday Inn hotel, restaurant, and swimming pool.

The Embassy Suites in Berkeley Heights is being constructed with 396 smooth acid-finished panels, for a total of 52,671 square feet of precast architectural panels. The 187,000-square-foot development is located within the Connell Corporate Park and will result in an eight-story, 176-room hotel at a total project cost of $39.5 million.

All currently under construction, the three hotels are on track for completion on schedule and on budget. "We are glad that hotel owners see the benefit of using a long-lasting, durable skin for their projects," said Matthew Smith, Smith-Midland's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Their headaches with maintenance and replacing exteriors will go away."
