(NYSE:HCI) and a leading provider of homeowners insurance in Florida, has issued an initial assessment of losses from Hurricane Matthew, which skirted the east coast of Florida last week, before making landfall in South Carolina.

The company stated that its preliminary estimates indicate losses related to Hurricane Matthew will fall below $50 million and will not trigger reinsurance recoveries from outside of HCI Group.
