JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 24, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ParkerVision, Inc.(Nasdaq:PRKR) announced today that it will amend its claims of indirect infringement against Qualcomm Incorporated(Nasdaq:QCOM) following a ruling issued by the U.S. District Court in the Middle District of Florida in ParkerVision's patent infringement case against Qualcomm. On August 23, 2012, the court granted Qualcomm's previously filed motion to dismiss ParkerVision's claims of indirect infringement citing a recent federal appeals court ruling which changed the pleading requirements. The court also allowed ParkerVision to amend its pleadings to conform to the new rules. The deadline for filing the amended pleadings is August 31, 2012.

Jeffrey Parker, Chief Executive Officer of ParkerVision, stated, "In June 2012, the Federal Court of Appeals changed the rules with regard to the minimum requirements to plead indirect infringement. The judge has allowed us the opportunity to amend our pleadings in accordance with the new requirements, and we will do so. It is important to note that this ruling relates only to the allegations of indirect infringement and has no bearing on our allegations of direct infringement against Qualcomm."

The court's ruling is available on ParkerVision's web site at: http://www.parkervision.com/public_relations/patent_litigation.php

In July 2011, ParkerVision filed a complaint in the United States District Court of the Middle District of Florida against Qualcomm seeking unspecified damages and injunctive relief for infringement of six ParkerVision patents related to radio-frequency receivers and the down-conversion of electromagnetic signals. The trial is scheduled to begin August 5, 2013.
